Billing and Renewals

Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless cancelled before the renewal date. We will charge your payment method on file for the renewal.

Cancellation and Refunds

You may cancel your subscription at any time through your account settings. Cancellations take effect at the end of the current billing period. We do not provide refunds for partial billing periods, except as required by law.

5. Intellectual Property Rights

Our Content

The Service and its original content (excluding public domain books), features, and functionality are owned by EchoLit., Inc and are protected by international copyright, trademark, patent, trade secret, and other intellectual property laws.

Public Domain Content

Many books available on EchoLit are in the public domain and sourced from Project Gutenberg. These works are free to read, download, and share according to their respective licenses.

License to Use

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to access and use the Service for your personal, non-commercial use, subject to these Terms.

6. User-Generated Content

You may create content such as notes, highlights, and annotations ("User Content"). You retain ownership of your User Content, but grant us a license to use it as follows:

• To display your User Content within the Service
• To backup and store your User Content on our servers
• To improve our AI-powered features (in aggregate and anonymized form)

You represent and warrant that your User Content does not violate any third-party rights or applicable laws.

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for any illegal purpose or in violation of any laws
• Attempt to bypass any security measures or access restrictions
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the Service

We use third-party AI providers (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Cloud AI) to power these features. Your use of AI features is subject to their respective terms of service and privacy policies.

9. Termination

We may terminate or suspend your account and access to the Service immediately, without prior notice, for any reason, including:

• Violation of these Terms
• Fraudulent or illegal activity
• Non-payment of fees
• At our sole discretion

Upon termination, your right to use the Service will cease immediately. You may terminate your account at any time by contacting us at support@echolit.ai.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, EchoLit., Inc shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to:

• Loss of profits, data, or use
• Cost of substitute services
• Business interruption
• Personal injury or property damage

Our total liability to you for any claims arising from your use of the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of New York, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any legal action or proceeding arising under these Terms will be brought exclusively in the federal or state courts located in New York, New York.

Informal Resolution

Before filing a formal claim, you agree to contact us at support@echolit.ai and attempt to resolve the dispute informally.

Arbitration

If we cannot resolve the dispute informally, any dispute arising from these Terms or the Service shall be resolved through binding arbitration in accordance with the American Arbitration Association's rules, except as modified by these Terms.

Class Action Waiver

You agree that any arbitration or proceeding shall be limited to the dispute between you and us individually. To the full extent permitted by law, no arbitration or proceeding shall be joined with another or proceed on a class or collective basis.

14. Modifications to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. If we make material changes, we will:

• Notify you via email or through the Service
• Provide you with at least 30 days' notice before changes take effect
